Join Human Resources for a gathering of leading social justice scholars as they discuss post-election policy consequences on marginalized communities. Law and policy experts will address immigrant and refugee rights, racial justice, criminal justice reform, reproductive rights, marriage equality, LGBTQ rights and climate change. They will suggest ways that the broader community can meaningfully assist the advancement of social justice causes.

Inspiring knowledge into action, a live music program will follow with performances by White Magic, Pegasus Warning, and yek koo.

This event will be held during the exhibition Rocket Rain موشک باران, the solo exhibition by Iranian, Los Angeles-based artist, Gelare Khoshgozaran. Rocket Rain borrows its title from the second chapter of the Iran-Iraq War, known in the West as “The War of the Cities”, which Iranians refer to and remember as موشک باران mooshak-baran: “Rocket Rain.” Initiated by the Iraqi Air Force in 1984, and quickly retaliated by Iran, this was a series of systemic air raids over major cities densely populated by civilians. The exhibition juxtaposes the different abstractions of war. Drawing from the most intimate to the most generic imagery, Rocket Rain provides a lens in which to grapple with the political landscape of the Iranian nation state, while reflecting on the state of perpetual, imminent war in the U.S.
